After I saw Common perform I developed a crush on him. It had very little to do with his looks; it was his charisma, charm... After last night, Raul Midon is a close 2nd.

Darv "introduced" me to Raul Midon's music about a year and a half ago. Every Saturday Darv and I cook breakfast, and while we cook we listen to Kid Hops' show "Positive Vibes"; when that's over we listen to Raul Midon. I only wish that we could listen to Raul (LIVE) every Wednesday night...

The count's up, which is normal since we just had spring break. My girls came to class smiling, giving me hugs and asking, "How was your break Ms. Stacy?" Some of them even worked in their folders during the break, which made me happy and proud. Angels I tell you!
Then I started my lesson on evaluating exponents. One of the new girls says, "Excuse me, I already passed this" to which I replied, "Yeah, I realize that, but we're all in need of a review no matter where we are." You know what she said??? "Oh, WOW." I thought "You're beeeefin'!" was ugly, but this statement is even worse! Two periods to go and I hope I don't hear "Oh, wow" again! For you jerks (darv, hov, jo, and the rest of you) I'm not answering my phone so don't try to call me and say it!

last thurs me and the grizzly left for oakland to attend angela's (a bridesmaid at my wedding)wedding on friday. broven watched the little doggies. since we had to pick mom and sister's husband up from sj airport fri morning AND then head to the wedding that evening, the grizzly had a surprise for me when we got in on thurs night. he booked a room at hotel des arts in union square. he tried to reserve the sam flores room, but we ended up with a room painted by artist kelly ording this is the third time, in 9+ years, that he has been able to pull something like this off. (yall remember anniversary #2/smith tower, right?) it was nice to spend a night in the city. we were extra lo-mantic (how my moms says it) and had a late night dinner at the denny's in j-town. initially we went for the spam and loco moco, but ended up having pancakes with all the fixins. when we got back to the hotel he "allowed" me to open my gift early. i thought it was weird that he was "allowing" me to open my gift so early, which leads to the FOURTH time he's truly surprised me). a ver esspensive handbag that i've wanted for a while, no link necessary. picked moms and chris up fri morning, checked in at the woodfin hotel, ate in-and-out, went back to change and headed to pacifica for the ceremony. reception at The Mandarin at Ghirardelli Square. too tired to stay up that night so we went to sleep around 1:30. woke up early on the morning of my birthday to be greeted with gifts from mom/dad and jenny/chris. had breakfast at the hotel. my cousin hooked up with us and we headed to downtown san jose for some hawaiian food at hukilau. shave ice for dessert at a little place across the street and spent the rest of the day at santana row. it was beautiful to see angie get married and to be able to spend my birthday with my fam.

two years ago today we celebrated the most important day of our lives with family and close friends. i never dreamed that i would be at the very place we had our wedding reception two years ago, Smith Tower, in the Chinese Room, for our second anniversary. we were supposed to be on our way to Ipanema, a Brazilian restaurant, but he took a detour. he wanted to see if we could go up to the Chinese Room before our reservation at 7. it was 6:40. i was pessimistic, insisting that the observation deck would be closed, paranoid that we'd be late for our dinner reservation. he was optimistic, persuading me that we take a chance. we stood in front of the Tower for 5 minutes before the doorman noticed us. the doorman opened the door and asked if he could help us. after Darv muttered a few incomprehensible words to the doorman we were asked to come in. we got onto the manually operated elevator, as we had done two years ago. when the doors opened up to the 35th floor i was still doubtful that the observation deck would be open to the public so late in the evening. once the elevator got to the 35th landing there was a family waiting to get onto the elevator, which convinced me that it was our lucky day and that we would in fact be able to spend a few minutes at our reception site before our dinner reservation. get this, we were greeted by the same hospitality person from the first time we looked at the Chinese room (as a potential reception site). more amazing than that is what happened next. the hospitality person extended his hand to Darv and said, "You must be Darvin." boy was i confused. Chuck, the greeter, then shook my hand as Darv introduced us. motioning towards the far corner of the room, facing the view of the Space Needle Chuck says, "We placed the table there, is that okay?" at that point i lost it, asking, "What's going on???" it was the most amazing and surreal thing that i have ever experienced, aside from my wedding day. beautiful flowers, a McCormick and Schmick chef, the g.m. of the downtown McCormick and Schmick, the same menu from our reception (with our names on it)...it was ALL too much. earlier today i watched Oprah. her guests were Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. let's just say that Tim McGraw is a lot less impressive than he was at 4:00 today. i'm a lucky girl.

seems like Darv's hard work has paid off. this saturday he was a part of the toy train show at sal's. he's also got two shows lined up for july and october. the biggest news, freelancing for stussy. (for you shoeheads, i don't need to elaborate). it's not the stussy you might remember as a kid. nowadays you can only find their merch in their boutiques and selected boutiques. i remember going their boutique on la brea (L.A.)next to undefeated and the one on haight (S.F.) next to true... WOW MOM.
found out that the pink 95s aren't exclusive to europe afterall. God IS good.

thank you to those who've supported overstand. be sure to keep an eye out for the summer line, it's gon be a hot one.

A student say: "Why do you like to teach us bad kids, Stacy? Don't you want to be teachin' kids at regular high schools?" This one makes me happy and sad at the same time.

A student say: "Isn't it funny that I haven't met your husband yet? I feel like we're such good friends and I don't even know your husband." This one makes me smile.

Starbucks server say: "You work at an alternative school? Ain't those kids bad?" This one made me shake my head. To which I responded, "They're really cute."

been a minute. mason's birth, janet's birthday, rimando tribe soon-to-be one more strong, went to l.a. to see my baby sister get married, skinny and raymond ogon made the dogs howl, glenn turned 30+ and two turntables, jonp turned 2, got a pimp car accessory- compliments of bro's lv trip, taking an ethnic studies class & educational psych class. just wanted to check in. haven't fraternized with any of you in a while. if these old bones can make it to vito's on friday, i'll see you then. jojo, hope you liked your big flames.

we've been forming voltron. however, today marks the first year of a married formation. here's to you, our friends and family that have "been the foundation. our relationship reflects what you are to us..." (from bear's toast on Feb. 7, 2004). and here's to you, for being fresh.

a big thank you to those who came out to support ILL CONVOY last saturday. the grizzly did a good job, didn't he? the event had to be filthy if it was gonna be named after a tribe cut.

so if you read t-bone's entry you know that i'm passionate about my job. passionate enough to throw pencils at kids, tell them that if they have something to say, to say it to my face, but big enough to squash something if need be. i've been told "you need to make babies because you're 29 and all married filipinos (referring to the grizzly) have kids by that age" (this particular student is filipino), that i am mean because "you worked at juvenile hall in california, no wonder you're mean". oh, i also have a "filthy" collection of shoes (explains the use of 'filthy' up above) and the kicker: "did you graduate from high school last year?" it's been an interesting week and a half. more updates later.

lastnite, popeye's with my vida boys and shopping at ross afterwards. broham toot-ies as he walks away, saying goodbye. i hate farting gifts.
